The below error is occur while creation of the ASM Disk in one of my test server.

This issue can be resolved by diable & enable the oracleasm feature as shown below
Disable the oracleasm
[root@testdb asm_rpm]# /etc/init.d/oracleasm disable Writing Oracle ASM library driver configuration: done Dropping Oracle ASMLib disks: [ OK ] Shutting down the Oracle ASMLib driver: [ OK ]
Enable the oracleasm
[root@testdb asm_rpm]# /etc/init.d/oracleasm enable Writing Oracle ASM library driver configuration: done Initializing the Oracle ASMLib driver: [ OK ] Scanning the system for Oracle ASMLib disks: [ OK ]
Now create the oracleasm disks
[root@testdb asm_rpm]# oracleasm createdisk DATA /dev/sdc1 Writing disk header: done Instantiating disk: done
Note: It has been created successfully without any error.
Scan the oracleasm disks

List & verify the oracleasm disks
[root@testdb asm_rpm]# oracleasm listdisks DATA
